On October 1st, 2016 the last leg of Anthony Henday Drive open to traffic.
Several dignitaries were on-hand for the grand opening of the northeast section of the ring road and both politicians, stakeholders, and the public were pleased to see the finishing touches being put on the 27-kilometre, $1.8 billion-dollar section of the road.
The completion of the final leg means there will be 80 kilometers of free flow traffic lanes available to drivers in Edmonton.
Rapid Span as part of a joint venture with Canam-Bridge, fabricated 15 steel highway bridges, including two major (322-m) structures across the North Saskatchewan River for the Northeast Anthony Henday Drive project.
