Project Details

Location: Kelowna, BC, Canada

Owner: City of Kelowna

This project consisted of a two-lane roadway connecting Highway 97 to Glenmore Road at the UBCO campus and it also included a multi-use paved pathway for pedestrians and cyclists.  A 57m clearspan pedestrian overpass was constructed as the recent construction and realignment lowered John Hindle Drive creating steep side slope embankments requiring a pedestrian bridge to provide a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists to access the campus.  Rapid-Span fabricated both the steel trapezoidal box girder and precast concrete deck panels for this project.  This final phase of John Hindle Drive has helped to reduce congestion and to ease commuting times for those travelling to and from the campus.
